A Phone System That Keeps Up: The Gervin Property Management Story

When Betty Gallagher describes Gervin Property Management, she starts with something that sets them apart from the rest of the industry.
"We're one of those unique property management companies that answer the phone when people call," she says. "You get a live person."
In property management, that's not a given. Tenants call when things break. Emergencies don't wait for business hours. The ability to reach someone quickly and reliably is the difference between a tenant who feels taken care of and one who doesn't.
So when their old phone system started making that harder, it wasn't just a technical frustration. It was a problem that cut straight to the heart of how Gervin runs their business.
The Problem: Stuck on Hold with Your Own Phone Provider
Gervin's previous provider, Nextiva, looked fine on paper. But day to day, it was anything but.
"It wasn't easy to use, and I was always on hold," Betty recalls. "Nothing happened quickly. And in our business, you've got to be a little quick."
The issues weren't complicated. They were just constant. Updating a voicemail greeting meant calling support and waiting. Adjusting after-hours routing meant calling support and waiting. Making any change to how calls flowed through the office meant calling support and waiting.
For a team that prides itself on being the company that actually picks up, spending time on hold with their own phone company felt like the worst kind of irony.
The Switch: A First Impression That Stuck
Gervin found TeleCloud through a trusted recommendation, and from there, the process moved quickly. When install day came in September 2025, Betty remembers it clearly.
"Absolutely delightful," she says. "Everybody was very helpful, very conscientious. They care about getting the answers to you."
TeleCloud's install team set up nine new Yealink desk phones, brought in a Peplink router for a cleaner network, and ported all ten of Gervin's existing numbers from Nextiva with no numbers lost and no disruption to the business.
What Changed: Control, Flexibility, and Phones That Work the Way You Do
The most immediate difference Betty noticed wasn't hardware or call quality. It was control.
"I like the fact that I can change the messages," she says. "It doesn't have to be my voice. I can do it from home."
What used to require a support call (updating a holiday greeting, adjusting after-hours routing, switching to a vacation message) Betty can now handle herself, from wherever she is. And when she does have a question?
"Even if I forget to set the vacation menu, I get an answer pretty quickly. That's why we like TeleCloud."
The mobile app has made a real difference for their maintenance supervisor, who's rarely at a desk.
"He's got the TeleCloud app on his cell phone, so when he's out and about, the phone rings to him and he really enjoys that," Betty says. "It's very convenient."
But if you ask Betty her favorite feature, she doesn't hesitate.
"I love getting an email with our voicemail. Love it."
Voicemail to email means Betty no longer has to sit and listen through every message. They come to her inbox, she reads them, forwards the right ones to the right people, and moves on.
"I don't have to listen to them all. I can just send them to where they need to go."
It's a small thing that adds up quickly across a busy day.
Still Happy, and Still Growing
Nearly a year after making the switch, Gervin is still a TeleCloud customer and still finding new ways to use the platform.
When asked what she'd tell another property management company thinking about TeleCloud, Betty's answer is simple.
"It works for us. I have no complaints."
And for Betty, the clearest signal that things are going well? Joe Nardone, Gervin's manager and decision-maker, has had nothing to say...
When Your Phone System Matches Your Standards
Gervin Property Management didn't need a complicated phone system. They needed one that was as responsive as they are. One that wouldn't put them on hold just to change a greeting, and one that would actually pick up when they had a question.
A phone system that holds your business back isn't just a technology problem. For a company built on being reachable, it's a business problem.
If your phone system isn't keeping up, let's talk about what's possible.
